Avon Care Homes welcomes you to Pondsmead, a stunning country mansion situated in beautiful gardens providing a lovely and unique lifestyle. Pondsmead is a stunning country mansion situated in beautiful gardens in the lovely village of Oakhill, within easy access of Bath, Frome and Wells.
The building is a converted mansion, having been extensively and lovingly restored and refurbished, whilst retaining all of its original features. It offers comfortable and modern accommodation in a magnificent atmosphere.
At Avon Care Homes we focus on the social areas by offering a diverse choice to our residents and giving them the opportunity to either entertain family and friends or relax in a peaceful and unique environment.
Residents have the choice of having afternoon tea in the beautiful drawing room with its unique panelled walls or in our glorious library.
We pride ourselves on our dining room which has been designed to a bespoke and very high standard of luxury with stunning views over the gardens. Our hospitality team provide our clients with a comprehensive menu, catering for everyone’s requirements and tastes.
Pondsmead welcomes up to 70 residents with en-suite individually designed rooms. We have a team of 60 people who are all highly qualified and very experienced. The Care is designed to meet and satisfy the requirements of every single client that joins Pondsmead. We strive to provide our clients with excellent care. The local surgery is within walking distance and we obviously have regular visits from Doctors and all Health Professionals connected to this service.
We place a lot of emphasis on providing a very extensive programme of activities including Dance Classes, Sculpture, Pottery, Musical Entertainment, Arts and Crafts and our very popular Cinema Club. Other therapies are available as required andwe also have a Hair Salon with different hairdressers on call.
We encourage the residents’ independence, dignity and freedom to enjoy their lives to the best of their ability in Pondsmead, which is an exclusive and luxurious home.

My mother has been in the home since July 2018, she is cared for by excellent staff, with friendly care. She is kept clean and tidy, as is her room and other facilities. She is happy there and enjoys the entertainment. The food is of an excellent standard as I know first hand as I occasional join her for lunch, in the dining room, which is like some first-class hotel.

The care at Pondsmead was second to none. The staff were polite and courteous at all times and treated my friend with the utmost respect and dignity ensuring that her needs were met. The Manager was open, transparent, warm and friendly and could regularly be seen and heard on the floor interacting with the staff and residents. A very big thank you.
